Paragon's Warehousing Efficiency Leaves Competitors on the Shelf

Paragon Group UK Ltd, have implemented a fully automated barcoding system within their warehouse, to facilitate the logistical processes undertaken by the business. Investing in the system has meant that Paragon are now able to add significant value to the service offered to customers.

Each item or delivery, whether it be pallet, box or reel, is taken by the warehouse. A technician scans the barcode on the product and inputs all relevant information into a hand-held scanning system. This information is then uploaded directly onto Paragon's electronic Optimus system which allows all departments within the company to see the logistical progress of the delivery in real time.

Improving the speed and accuracy of the information available has encouraged a more prompt and informative method of work, improving the overall service Paragon offer customers. The Barcoding system has also significantly reduced the need for manual input, improving efficiency and allowing warehouse technicians time to concentrate on other necessary tasks.

The new automated barcoding system is used for raw materials, finished good and manufactured stock, as well as Paragon's pick and pack facility. This system has dramatically improved the communication process between Paragon and their customers. Using real time allows all departments to view the progress of a job, offering an honest approach to the production process.

Says Paragon's Warehouse Manager, Steve Pollard, "This system has allowed us to put in place new and improved methods of stock control and this has been of great benefit to our customers. Warehousing to Paragon is more than simply capacity, it is imperative that we think on a broader level to benefit potential and existing clients. Promoting our open communication policy reinforces our commitment to our customers to continue to invest and find more effective ways of conducting our business processes."

The new warehousing system has achieved a more streamlined method of work for Paragon benefiting a number of areas of the business. Departments are now able to organise workloads, stocking and production using the most up-to-date information, leaving more time to concentrate on customer requirements.
