Paragon establish new plant in Romania
Paragon, in response to the market demand, have established a facility in Bucharest, Romania. The creation of this new manufacturing and trading site is based on three primary objectives aiming at servicing the Paragon Group companies across Europe: act as a source for finding competitively priced products for its customers, establish a print on demand operation and a pick and pack facility.
Based in the heart of Eastern Europe, the Paragon Romanian operation will reinforce their print management expertise by acting as a broker who will benchmark local print manufacturers in order to find the best products at competitive prices. Recent surveys show that local manufacturers are on average 30% more competitive than their equivalents in Western Europe.
As well as specialising in print procurement, the Bucharest site will also be a manufacturing plant, offering print on demand and supplying business stationery - such as letterheads, business cards and compliment slips – working with state of the art IT systems and the Paragon e-commerce Platform (PeP). This will allow the existing Paragon plants to focus further on added-value products such as pressure seal, scratch code, integrated documents, colour work and direct mail.
A manual pick and pack operation, which will initially be dedicated to the telecommunications market, will also be established. Several phone companies and chip manufacturers have chosen Paragon for the creation and fulfilment of packs containing, a CD box, a user guide, a personalised chip, marketing material and a label for tracking.
This initiative has been led by Paragon’s French operation, Paragon Transaction. Says Yves Vételé, Paragon Transaction General Manager: “Romania’s economy is growing fast and is predicted to attract €1.8 billion direct foreign investments this year. Establishing a new plant in Bucharest is a great opportunity for Paragon to diversify their activity, offer their customers more competitive prices and respond to existing clients’ specific requirements, such as for the telecommunications market.”
Paragon’s objective is to have their Bucharest site operational on 1 July 2004.
