Paragon's Scratchcode achieves APACS Level 4 accreditation

Paragon’s Scratchcode product has been accredited by APACS to security level 4 under Standard 72 for PIN mailer stationery and PIN printing services.

Paragon worked closely with APACS, the UK payment association, to introduce the PIN mailer accreditation scheme and new security standards. The scheme ensures PIN mailers are consistently secure, and remain a suitable option for advising confidential PIN codes to cardholders.

Level 4 is the highest level available under the new regulations and products must withstand sophisticated testing under conditions using X-ray and electrostatic imaging.

Dave Alexander, Paragon Group UK Technical Manager said: ”Our product has undergone thorough testing by Pira, on behalf of APACS, ensuring that the PIN is not visible until it is revealed by the cardholder and that any tampering with the document is evident”.

Designed for use on a wide range of continuous and cut sheet laser printers, the Scratchcode product is highly successful in telecommunications and financial organisations. A flexible and versatile product which can be integrated into labels and cards, it is supplied one and two wide, both reel and pack, in cut sheet and Pressure Seal formats.

Simon Armstrong, Paragon UK’s Business Development Manager adds: “The accreditation re-enforces our customers’ confidence in the total security of the Scratchcode product. As the leading solution in the market several major financial institutions are now looking to implement our product as their preferred solution”.

Paragon’s Scratchcode is recognised across Europe as one of the most secure ways to issue a PIN using a non-impact printer.

Employing 1,250 people across Europe and with revenues of €200m, the Paragon Group is a European leader in the provision of print services operating from 17 technical and services sites in 9 countries.
